Frequently asked questions

The questions we hear most, answered plainly.

How do I turn my newsletters into a podcast?

Clawdio does this automatically. You forward the newsletters you already subscribe to (via a one-time Gmail filter) to a private address we give you, and every morning we turn what came in overnight into a single audio briefing — read aloud, in a voice you pick, at the length you want.

Is there an app that reads newsletters aloud?

Clawdio is exactly that: it reads your email newsletters aloud as one daily audio briefing, so you can listen on a walk or commute instead of scrolling. No text-to-speech browser plugin required — the briefing is a real produced audio file, generated fresh each morning and delivered as a link by text.

What's a good Meco alternative if I want to listen instead of read?

Meco and similar newsletter readers are built around reading in an inbox-like feed. Clawdio is built around listening — it turns your newsletters into one spoken audio briefing you press play on, so if listening (not reading) is what you're after, that's the core difference.

Is there a newsletter audio digest that doesn't require giving up inbox access?

Yes — Clawdio never asks for your email password or OAuth access to your inbox. You forward newsletters to a private address of your own choosing (or set up a one-time Gmail filter that does it automatically); we only ever see the mail you forward, never your actual inbox.

Does Clawdio need my email password or OAuth access?

No. There's no OAuth grant and no password sharing at any point — Clawdio only receives the specific newsletters you forward to your own private Clawdio address. You can revoke access entirely, anytime, just by deleting one filter in Gmail.

How much does Clawdio cost?

Clawdio is $4.99/month after a free 7-day trial, with nothing due today and cancel anytime. One subscription covers unlimited newsletters forwarded to your account.

What newsletters work with Clawdio?

Any email newsletter you can forward works — there's no fixed list. Clawdio automatically sorts incoming mail into newsletters (which it reads) and promotional mail (which it drops), and you can adjust that sorting anytime in Settings.

Can I choose the voice, length, and delivery time?

Yes. You pick a host voice, a briefing length (5-10, 10-15, or 15-20 minutes), and the exact time it should be ready each morning — all adjustable anytime from Settings.

Can I try Clawdio without creating an account?

Yes — the homepage plays a real, freshly generated daily briefing you can listen to with no sign-up at all, so you can hear exactly what it sounds like before deciding to make your own.

Does this only work with Gmail?

Setup is currently built around Gmail's forwarding and filters, since that covers the large majority of newsletter subscribers. If you use a different provider, you can still forward mail manually to your Clawdio address — reach out and we can help.
